Where are science and innovation headed in Brazil?

Updated: Aug 28

Over the past 6 months, the Brazilian science and technology world has participated in debates on the main scenarios and problems faced by this segment in the country with the aim of envisioning the needs in the area of ST&I and proposing recommendations for the development of a new National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (ENCTI) to be followed over the next 10 years. The new strategy will replace the 2016-2023 strategy, which will also have its programs, plans and results analyzed during the event. There were four thematic axes: Recovery, expansion and consolidation of the National Science, Technology and Innovation System; Reindustrialization on new bases and support for innovation in companies; Science, Technology and Innovation for national strategic programs and projects; and finally, Science, Technology and Innovation for social development.

The National Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation had not taken place for 14 years. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) is responsible for holding the event and counts on the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) to organize the event.
